The Trustee for The Burrows Family Trust T/A Chandlers Corner Auto Centre are seeking a reliable and honest Light Vehicle Mechanic who demonstrates strong punctuality and maintains a polite and respectful attitude in the workplace. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and sound problem solving skills without the need for constant supervision.
The role requires someone who can perform efficiently in a busy, fast paced workshop environment. You will be working alongside two fully qualified Australian mechanics in a collaborative and supportive workshop environment. Your role will include, but is not limited to:
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles by conducting inspections and using diagnostic equipment to identify underlying issues.
- Dismantle and examine engines and related systems, assessing components to determine necessary repairs or replacements.
- Repair or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble vehicle systems in accordance with manufacturer standards.
- Perform routine servicing,
including fluid changes, lubrication, adjustments and engine tuning to maintain vehicle performance and reliability.
- Test and evaluate vehicles after servicing or repair, including road testing where required, to ensure secure operation and proper functionality.
Applicants must hold a relevant trade qualification AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, at least three years of full time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification. We are looking for hands-on experience working across a wide range of vehicle models, including modern vehicles, older models from the 1980s, and classic or vintage vehicles from the 1940s and 1950s. Applicants will also have:
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills using modern diagnostic equipment for light vehicles.
- Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
- Skilled in engine dismantling, inspection, and component assessment.
- Experience in repairing, replacing, and reassembling vehicle components to manufacturer standards.
- Ability to perform routine servicing, including engine tuning and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to conduct post-repair inspections and road testing to ensure safe and reliable vehicle operation.
A salary of $79,000 - $85,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
