As we continue to grow, so too does our team. We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Project Manager - Decommissioning. This is a Full-Time role, based in our Perth office in Henderson, WA.
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of complex decommissioning projects from tender handover through to final completion.
Acting as the primary client interface, this role is accountable for contract management, commercial performance, project governance, engineering coordination and stakeholder engagement. Working from Birdon's Perth office, the Project Manager leads the project delivery team and supports business development activities to secure future opportunities.
The role is supported by our Operations Superintendent responsible for onsite execution, a Business Development Manager responsible for opportunity generation, and reports directly to the General Manager – Australia West.
Key Accountabilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project delivery, building strong relationships through transparency, collaboration and performance.
- Lead the safe, compliant and profitable delivery of decommissioning projects in accordance with contract requirements.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk and quality objectives.
- Administer contracts and subcontracts, including variations, claims, commercial negotiations and contractual correspondence.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and execute project methodologies, work packs and technical documentation.
- Ensure project deliverables meet customer requirements, regulatory obligations and Birdon management system standards.
- Lead project reporting, forecasting and performance reviews across financial, operational and contractual metrics.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities while implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with the Operations Superintendent to ensure effective planning and execution of site-based activities.
- Support tender development, pricing reviews, client engagement and business development initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic growth initiatives within the decommissioning, marine and energy sectors.
- Promote a strong safety culture focused on environmental stewardship, quality and operational excellence.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential
- Minimum 10 years' experience delivering and managing complex projects within the offshore energy, marine, construction, heavy industrial or decommissioning sectors.
- Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and commercial contracts.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors and consultants.
- Strong understanding of project management principles including scope, cost, schedule, risk and stakeholder management.
- Commercially astute with strong contract administration and negotiation skills.
- Current Australian driver's licence and ability to travel to project locations as required.
Desirable
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering offshore decommissioning, demolition, asset disposal or remediation projects.
- Knowledge of offshore energy regulations and decommissioning requirements.
- Existing client relationships within the offshore energy, resources or marine sectors.
