About the Role:
GenTech Seeds is seeking the expertise of a Research Operations Lead to join the Pioneer Seeds team. This role is responsible for the management and maintenance of field equipment, and for the coordination and execution of field operations on local research sites including but not exclusive to site preparation, planting & harvest of trials.
Key accountabilities this position will be responsible for:
Manage day to day working plans and schedules of Research Field Technicians
Plan and coordinate sowing, harvest & maintenance of all research site / farm locations and ensure trial records are correct and up to date
Plan and execute maintenance of all machinery and ensure records are kept up to date.
Ensure equipment, competency and safety training is completed regularly, work instructions and records are up to date.
Assist with crop trialling execution planning and strategy.
Assist with equipment CAPEX research, justification and quotes
Operate planting, harvesting,
and groundwork machinery
Coordinate the Field team for trial site selection, marking & preparation, grower liaison, and execution of planting and harvest as per season testing plans
Ensure trial sites are maintained to a high standard.
Assist with the collection and processing of trial samples and field assessments
Assist with parent seed requirements
Ensure all field regulatory requirements of the Office of Gene Technology Regulator and Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority are met.
About You:
Demonstrated trial management & field-based experience supporting plant research experience
Current HC and Forklift license (essential)
Chemical user accreditation
Experience operating farm machinery, particularly with GPS capability
Strong digital literacy with advanced skills covering the Microsoft suite
Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, communication and facilitation with the ability to build key relationships with internal and external stakeholders
A self-starter, problem solver, excellent organisational and time management skills.
Knowledge of trial design, statistics, and data analysis with robust field trial execution and small-plot equipment skills.
