About Us

Kurbingui Youth and Family Development (‘Kurbingui’ or the ‘organisation’) is a registered Not-For-Profit (NFP) Aboriginal community-controlled organisation and a company “Limited by Guarantee” operating throughout the Greater Brisbane, Southeast and Moreton Bay regions. Kurbingui programs are funded by government and non-government grants as well as self-managed revenue services and activities. The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors elected and appointed from members of the community.

Kurbingui delivers a range of programs and services aimed at improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the broader communities. These programs and services contribute to the cultural, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a strong focus on addressing isolation, domestic and family violence, social emotional wellbeing, poverty, discrimination, family issues and unemployment through the provision of case management, therapeutic support, outreach, community development, education, training, cultural workshops and traditional activities and community events.

Kurbingui partners with the three levels of government, not-for-profit organisations, corporate companies, Elders, and community members. Our staff members undertake their duties as a collaborative team working to the organisation’s policies, procedures, relevant legislation, and best professional practice standards. Our teams are flexible, multi-skilled and work effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of individuals, multi-disciplinary groups, partners, and stakeholders to ensure high quality and culturally safe services to all community members.

About the Role

The Support Worker – Multi-Program provides high-quality, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based support services across Kurbingui's diverse range of programs and services in multiple locations (Zillmere, Caboolture and Deception Bay). The role delivers practical client support, outreach, advocacy, community engagement, and service coordination activities in accordance with each program's objectives, service agreement, and funding requirements.

The position is designed to provide responsive workforce support across the organisation,



working alongside Practitioners and program teams to maintain continuity of service delivery during periods of leave, workforce vacancies, increased service demand, new program implementation, or other operational requirements. The Support Worker is expected to work effectively across multiple program areas while maintaining high standards of professionalism, cultural safety, quality, and client service.

The Support Worker assists with the implementation of case plans, client engagement activities, referrals, transport, community participation, group programs, and other practical supports that contribute to positive outcomes for children, young people, adults, and families. Working collaboratively with Coordinators, Team Leaders, Practitioners and Program Managers, the role supports service delivery, identifies emerging client needs, and promptly escalates complex matters in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

The Support Worker adapts to differing program models, operational procedures, documentation requirements, and funding obligations. The role ensures all work is undertaken in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, relevant legislation, funding agreements, Child Safe Standards, the Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF), ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and other applicable accreditation and compliance requirements.

About You

Essential

- Demonstrated ability to build positive, respectful, and skilled relationships with clients, families, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Experience providing practical support to children, young people, adults and families within a community services or human services environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, work under general direction, use initiative within the scope of the role and adapt to changing operational requirements.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills,



including the ability to maintain accurate records, case notes, and documentation.
- Commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, professional boundaries and maintaining professional standards.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple programs, service locations, and client groups.
- Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, Disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience relevant to the role.
- Current Drivers Licence (QLD)
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe.
- Possession of a current Positive Notice Blue Card
- Possession of or the ability to obtain a Disability Worker Screening Card.

Desirable

- Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO).
- Experience facilitating community, educational or group-based activities.
- Knowledge of Queensland community services, referral pathways, and local support networks.
- Experience using electronic client management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
