Haymond Personnel is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join a well-established steel processing facility. This is an excellent opportunity to work with advanced CNC machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with ongoing work and the potential for permanent employment.
We are looking for a skilled operator with experience using Heidenhain-controlled CNC machines or a very similar control system, who can confidently set up and operate machinery while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
About the Role
Working within a busy production team, you will be responsible for setting up CNC machining jobs from workshop drawings, operating machinery, monitoring production quality and assisting with general production activities. You will also play an active role in troubleshooting machining issues and supporting continuous production efficiency.
This role operates across:
- Day Shift
- Afternoon Shift
- Night Shift
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machining jobs in accordance with engineering and workshop drawings.
- Operate Heidenhain-controlled CNC machines (or similar CNC control systems).
- Perform machine set-ups, tool changes and production adjustments.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and identify practical solutions to minimise downtime.
- Monitor product quality and perform routine dimensional checks.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of steel materials and finished components.
- Complete routine machine maintenance and housekeeping duties.
- Work safely and follow all Workplace Health & Safety procedures.
- Collaborate with fellow CNC Operators and production staff to achieve production targets.
To Be Successful You Will Have
- Demonstrated experience operating and setting up Heidenhain CNC machines or a closely related CNC control system.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and workshop drawings.
- Experience performing machine set-ups, offsets and troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, noisy manufacturing environment.
- Flexibility to work day, afternoon or night shift.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test.
Highly Regarded
- Overhead Crane experience.
- Current Forklift Licence (LF).
- Experience working within the steel, engineering or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Trade qualification in Engineering (Machining) or relevant industry experience.
