OZ Excavator Buckets

Queensland

OZ Excavator Buckets is a Brisbane-based manufacturer and supplier of excavator buckets and earthmoving attachments.

Established in Brisbane in 1998, OZ has grown from a local workshop into a nationwide supplier while remaining family-owned and operated. In 2023, the business moved into its purpose-built facility in Oxley, expanding its manufacturing capability and supporting continued growth.

Our Oxley workshop covers fabrication, welding, hydraulic attachment fit-out, QA, painting, warehousing and dispatch. We are focused on practical solutions, reliable service, quality products and maintaining strong workshop standards.

About the Role

OZ Excavator Buckets is looking for an experienced Workshop Foreman to help lead our fabrication and assembly team in our Oxley workshop.

We manufacture excavator buckets and attachments for the earthmoving industry. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with robust fabrication or manufacturing experience who can lead trades, keep jobs moving, and hold the team accountable to safety, quality, production and ISO 9001 system requirements.

The role supervises a team of approximately 15 fabrication and assembly staff and reports directly to the Production Manager.

Applicants must have previous experience supervising trades in a fabrication or manufacturing workshop.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise the day-to-day activities of the fabrication and assembly team.

Lead safety on the workshop floor, working with the WHS Officer, Production Manager and workshop team to support toolbox talks, incident reporting and corrective actions, while ensuring safe work practices, housekeeping and site safety requirements are clearly understood and consistently followed.

Maintain quality standards, ISO 9001 requirements and company procedures by ensuring workshop records, job updates, quality checks, non-conformance follow-ups and documented processes are completed as required.

Ensure production staff follow approved procedures, drawings, specifications and inspection requirements.

Work closely with Production, Engineering, QA, Warehouse and Dispatch to keep jobs moving and resolve issues before they delay production.

Provide hands-on technical support to fabricators and welders where required.

Monitor job progress and help ensure work is completed to schedule.

Communicate delays, production issues, material shortages or quality concerns early.

Ensure staff are working productively and following the correct processes.

Help train, guide and develop team members.

Support continuous improvement across the workshop.

Update job progress, report issues, and help maintain accurate production information.

What We’re Looking For

The successful applicant will have:

Previous experience supervising trades in a fabrication, welding, manufacturing or heavy industrial workshop.

A strong background in steel fabrication, welding or mechanical manufacturing.

Strong people management skills and the ability to motivate a team.

Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make practical decisions on the floor.

A solid commitment to workplace health and safety.

The ability to work with Engineering, QA, Warehouse, Dispatch, WHS and Production teams.

Basic computer skills and the ability to update job progress and follow production systems.

Experience working with quality systems, documented procedures, inspection requirements or ISO 9001 systems would be highly regarded.

A practical, hands-on approach.

The ability to hold people accountable while maintaining a positive team environment.

What We Offer

Competitive hourly rate based on experience.

Consistent Monday to Friday hours.

Overtime as required.

Stable, long-term opportunity in a growing manufacturing business.

Hands-on leadership role with real influence over workshop performance.

Support from Production, Engineering, QA, WHS and Warehouse teams.

Opportunity to help improve systems, processes and workshop standards.

Free on-site parking

Pre-Employment Requirements

Successful applicants may be required to complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
