Colterlec is growing — and backed to grow faster through acquisition. As we build out a sharp, disciplined in-house deal capability, we're looking for a commercially minded M&A; Strategy Advisor to help identify, evaluate and progress the opportunities driving our next stage of growth.
Reporting to the COO, you'll sit close to the action — scanning markets, testing investment logic, building valuations, interrogating due diligence and preparing the Board-ready recommendations that decide which deals move forward.
This is a rare Newcastle-based role for a finance, corporate advisory or strategy professional who wants real exposure to the full deal lifecycle: not just the model, but the commercial thinking, decision-making and integration that follow.
What you'll make happen
Spot attractive targets — scanning markets, building long-lists and keeping the pipeline moving
Screen opportunities against Colterlec's strategy, product matrix and investment criteria
Turn complex information into clear investment theses, valuations, databooks and Board papers
Build models that matter — DCF, trading and transaction multiples, forecasts, synergies, integration costs
Support the paper that moves deals forward — term sheets, NBIOs, information requests, approval packs
Coordinate due diligence across commercial, operational, financial, tax and legal workstreams
Get under the hood of deal mechanics — cash-free/debt-free adjustments, EV-to-equity bridges, working-capital pegs, completion accounts
Help acquisitions land — supporting integration tracking, post-completion reviews and process improvement
Who will thrive here
You love understanding a business — the numbers, the market, the risks, the upside, the story behind the performance.
You're rigorous without being rigid, curious without getting lost in the weeds, and confident turning imperfect information into a clear commercial view. You bring the modelling craft, judgement and communication polish to produce work that stands up to Board-level scrutiny.
Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related
~3 years in M&A;, corporate finance, transaction/investment advisory, credit, restructuring, insolvency or strategy
Strong modelling and valuation skills — three-statement models, DCF, multiples, returns analysis
Experience with transaction analytics — QoE normalisation, working-capital pegs, EV-to-equity bridges
Comfortable using AI to accelerate work, with a sharp eye for its blind spots
Advanced Excel, and a knack for turning messy data into transparent commercial insight
Strong business writing — concise, decision-ready memos and papers
High discretion and sound judgement with confidential information
Highly regarded
- CA/CPA/CFA (complete or well progressed) or other tertiary investment in self-development (MBA)
- industrial, electrical, manufacturing, distribution or other B2B exposure
- full deal-lifecycle experience including integration and earn-outs
- credit, restructuring or insolvency background
- comfort building process in a growing function
- interest in emerging AI tools
Why this role is worth a closer look
Influence real growth decisions inside a business actively acquiring
Work close to senior leaders and see commercial analysis become Board-level action
Build genuine end-to-end deal experience — sourcing through to completion and integration
Shape the tools and process behind a maturing in-house M&A; function
Newcastle base, conveniently located with on-site parking
