The Role
Working as part of our dedicated Finance Team, the Accountant will provide support by managing key facets of transactional accounting, payroll, prepare reports and provide insights, analysis and transactional commentary to senior leaders in relation to all aspects of financial performance. This role is designed for further development with the transformations and growth underway within the business.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end weekly payroll process and understand the application of industry related awards, reporting and reconciling month-end and year-end processes
Take ownership of the finance function across multiple entities including general ledger reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments
Manage the month-end reporting process, including preparation and review of journals, reconciliations and supporting schedules to deliver accurate monthly financial reporting
Prepare and lodge statutory compliance obligations including Business Activity Statements, PAYG, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation and any other required submissions of a financial nature in a timely manner
Overseeing fixed asset accounting, CAPEX reporting, and depreciation schedules
Liaise with external accountants on compliance and reporting
Contributing to the development and mentoring of junior team members
Work closely with operational teams and business leaders across the group to provide financial guidance and insight
Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, reporting and systems
About You
Degree qualified with a minimum of 5 years accounting experiences in the application of financial accounting principles and practices gained in a commercial or NFP environment.
Progress towards or completed CPA / CA qualifications would be highly regarded.
A thorough working knowledge of current accounting principles, standards, regulatory environments and taxation
Proven experience in payroll management with strong knowledge of payroll systems and processes
Ability to support the business by developing a thorough understanding of our Club’s operations to offer opportunities for improved performances
Solid Excel skills, with a high degree of proficiency utilising accounting applications
Proactive, customer driven approach with a strong drive towards developing high quality outcomes
High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Professional attitude and presentation and a commitment to continuous learning
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to build productive relationships at all levels of the organisation
Self-motivated and strong desire to learn with the ability to manage tight deadlines and exceed stakeholder expectations
