We are seeking an experienced SMP Project Coordinator to join a major project team at Cape Lambert in a FIFO / 8:6 role. This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to play a key part in the delivery of a significant brownfield construction project while working alongside experienced project and construction professionals.
About the Role
As the SMP Project Coordinator, you will provide site leadership, coordination and construction expertise to ensure project activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements. You will work closely with Construction Leads, Project Engineers, Contractors and Operations teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage project implementation activities on site.
- Liaise with multiple contracting partners and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Support Construction Leads and Project Engineers with contractor reporting, including cost, quality, schedule, delivery and safety performance.
- Ensure site construction activities align with HSEQ requirements and project management standards.
- Monitor project schedules and proactively identify and mitigate potential delays.
- Drive continuous improvement opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Support QA/QC activities, including identification of specification deviations and verification of ITP/FIC requirements.
- Assist with punch list development and project commissioning activities.
- Engage with Operations teams during commissioning and shutdown periods.
- Verify contractor timesheets and day sheets.
- Prepare daily site logs and handover reports.
Qualifications
- Robust stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary construction projects.
- Experience across SMP or related disciplines including structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, civil or earthworks.
- Previous exposure to fabrication and construction activities within a brownfield environment.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental performance.
- The ability to work collaboratively within diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
- Exposure to Rio Tinto project delivery systems and processes will be highly regarded.
