With a strong focus on compliance, industry engagement and positive student outcomes, we are seeking an experienced Academic Manager(Construction & Trades) to lead our growing trade faculty and oversee the quality of training, assessment and academic operations.

About the Role
As the Academic Manager, you will provide academic leadership across Alfa & Gamma College’s construction programs. You will oversee Trainers and Assessors, support continuous improvement, maintain compliance requirements and ensure high standards of training delivery and assessment.
The successful candidate must have strong vocational experience and hold a relevant qualification within the construction or trade industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Construction and Trades academic department.
- Supervise, mentor and support Trainers and Assessors.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of training delivery and assessment practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable RTO standards, ASQA requirements, training package requirements and CRICOS obligations.
- Develop,
review and continuously improve Training and Assessment Strategies, learning resources and assessment tools.
- Coordinate validation, moderation and academic quality assurance activities.
- Monitor student progress, assessment outcomes and academic performance.
- Support Trainers and Assessors with professional development and industry currency.
- Maintain accurate academic and compliance records.
- Liaise with industry stakeholders to ensure training remains current and relevant.
- Support internal audits, external audits and regulatory compliance activities.
- Work closely with senior management on academic planning and continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a relevant vocational qualification in at least one of the following areas:
- CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry
- CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
- CPC31020 Certificate III in Solid Plastering
- CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining
- CPC31320 Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling
- CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction
- CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), or a higher relevant construction qualification.
Applicants must also have:
- A current TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or an accepted equivalent.
- Significant vocational experience within the Australian construction or trade industry.
- Demonstrated experience delivering and assessing within an Australian Registered Training Organisation.
- Previous experience in an academic leadership position, such as Academic Manager, Head Trainer, Lead Trainer or Training Manager.
- Strong knowledge of RTO compliance, assessment validation and quality assurance requirements.
- Experience developing and reviewing training and assessment resources.
- Solid leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to mentor Trainers and Assessors and manage academic performance effectively.
- A strong commitment to student outcomes and continuous improvement.
Highly Desirable
- Qualifications or experience across multiple construction disciplines.
- Experience working within a CRICOS-registered provider.
- Experience supporting or preparing for ASQA audits.
- Strong understanding of international student education requirements.
- Current construction industry networks and recent industry engagement.
- Current White Card.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
