Your Role

As the Field Technician/Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for collecting a preparing subsurface geological samples and data for laboratory testing. You will also be responsible for supporting and undertaking surveying activities throughout the Northern Rivers region. The role offers a unique opportunity to work across both geotechnical and surveying disciplines as our regional surveying capability continues to grow. Ongoing training and support will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone looking to broaden their experience across both disciplines.

You’ll:

- Coordinate the collection and preparation of soil samples for analysis and testing




- Coordinate and conduct site visits including the scheduling of access to the site and relevant equipment
- Accurately log soil and rock profiles from boreholes/test pits to Australian Standard.
- Ensure testing is performed in accordance with approved standards (ie: NATA & Australian Standards
- Carry out field surveying activities using GPS and total station equipment.
- Undertake a range of surveying work including detail and topographic surveys, construction setout, formwork checks, identification surveys, and work-as-executed surveys.
- Collect accurate field data and site information for processing by the survey team.
- Liaise with survey staff regarding site requirements, data capture, and field methodologies
- Assist in the ongoing development of surveying services within the Northern Rivers region.

What You’ll Bring

- Demonstrated experience completing soil logging and profiling experience directly related to the surrounding soil types and associated reactivities.
- Physical fitness to a level that will ensure equipment is operated safely and competently
- A valid driver’s license
- Good interpersonal skills: ability to deal with a diverse range of people both internally and externally; maintaining a qualified manner at all times; ability to extract information about job requirements from clients
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritising and organising.
- Ability to work independently in the field and communicate effectively with office-based staff.
- Willingness to undertake further training and development in surveying.
- Experience in construction, engineering, or cadastral surveying is advantageous.
