VERVE Fitness is Australia's fastest-growing commercial gym equipment company. We're profitable, we're on the Gold Coast, and over the past year we've built something new: VERVE Pulse, a gym management platform. Memberships, payments, bookings, member apps for iOS and Android, front-desk kiosk, lead management. It's built, it's in trial with real gyms, and it's about to go to market.

We're hiring our first dedicated engineer to own it. Not a team. Not a department. You, the product, and the best AI development tooling money can buy. Internally the title is Founding Engineer, and we mean it: first and only engineer on the product.

What the job actually is

This role changes shape as the product launches, and we're telling you that upfront:

First 2 months: break it before customers do.

Systematic, hostile testing of every critical flow. Payments above all: real cards, full billing cycles, refunds, failed payments, dunning, reconciliation to the cent. You find it, you fix it, it stays fixed.

Months 3 to 4: run the customer beta.

Real gyms, real members, real money. You triage what they hit, fix fast, and keep a clear-eyed picture of what's solid and what's risky. The CEO makes the launch call on your evidence.

From launch: it's yours in production.

Uptime, incidents, security, the features customers are asking for, and an onboarding machine you build so every gym is cheaper to bring on than the last. If it breaks at 9pm,



you're the person who cares.

How we build

The codebase is up-to-date (Next.js, React, Postgres on Supabase, Vercel, React Native, Stripe) and it was built AI-first, with Claude Code doing much of the writing and a human doing the thinking. That's how you'll work too. One engineer here ships what a five-person team used to. If you've been using AI coding tools and thinking "this changes everything", you'll fit. If you think it's a fad, you won't.

You're probably right for this if:

You're a senior full-stack engineer who has owned software in production: carried the pager, handled the 9pm payments incident, written the post-mortem.

You've worked with Stripe or similar payments infrastructure in anger: webhooks, retries, reconciliation, invoicing. You know where the bodies are buried.

You have taste for what "done" means when real money moves. You'd rather delay a launch than ship a billing bug.

You use AI coding tools daily and you're good at catching what they get wrong.

You want ownership of one product, not a slice of a big org chart.
