We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing core accounting processes, preparing and analysing management reports, managing complex client invoicing, and contributing to compliance reporting and financial planning activities.

This role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, experience with up-to-date accounting systems, a genuine appetite for using AI to work smarter and automate manual effort, and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Accounting

Perform accurate and timely month-end close processes.

Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.

Generate weekly management reports to support business decision-making.

Assist in monthly board and management reporting processes.

Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.

Support annual audit and tax processes, including working with external auditors.

Manage annual FBT return preparation and lodgement.

Prepare and lodge monthly BAS statements in compliance with ATO requirements.

Management Reporting

Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly management reports as required.

Assist the Finance Manager in preparation of the monthly board report.

Provide insights on trends in revenue, direct costs and other KPIs.

Work with internal stakeholders to improve the visibility and understanding of departmental costs across the business.





Credit Cards (Expense management system)

Manage the company credit cards using the company’s expense management system.

Systems and Tools

Use accounting software such as Netsuite, Xero efficiently.

Leverage advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and pivot tables.

Apply Power Query for data transformation and process automation.

Use SQL to query data from internal databases.

Interpret financial data through Power BI dashboards and reports.

Use of AI in Finance

Use AI tools (such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT) to automate and accelerate routine finance tasks, including reconciliations, data preparation and first-draft reporting.

Apply AI to draft, summarise and quality-check management commentary, board narrative and stakeholder correspondence.

Use AI-assisted and natural-language querying to interrogate financial data and speed up analysis.

Identify opportunities to automate manual, repetitive processes and contribute to the finance team's AI and automation agenda.

Critically review and validate all AI-generated output to ensure accuracy, completeness and appropriateness before it is used.

Use AI responsibly and securely, safeguarding the confidentiality of financial and business data at all times.

Other Responsibilities

Assist the Finance Manager and CFO with ad hoc analysis, reporting, or projects as required.

Assist in system implementations and process improvements to drive automation.
