Finance Manager / Accounts & Payroll Manager

We"re looking for a Finance Manager with Payroll experience to join The INS Group. Ideally someone who knows their way around a balance sheet, can spot a reconciliation issue from a mile away, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when payroll is due.

This is a hands-on finance leadership role where you"ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation while working closely with senior management.

What we"re really looking for is someone with the technical foundation, initiative and leadership potential to take ownership of our finance function and develop alongside the business.

This is a hands-on finance leadership role where you"ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation while working closely with senior management.

What we"re really looking for is someone with the technical foundation, initiative and leadership potential to take ownership of our finance function and develop alongside the business.

About the Role

You’ll take the lead across our finance and accounts functions, overseeing financial accounts, payroll, reporting and compliance.

You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and Operations Manager, providing the financial information and insight they need to make informed business decisions.

You’ll also guide and support the Accounts team, ensuring the day-to-day finance function runs smoothly and accurately.

It’s a role with plenty of variety — one day you’re reviewing budgets and cash flow, the next you’re overseeing payroll,

reconciling accounts, preparing BAS/GST reporting or working with external accountants and auditors.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Oversee the organisation's financial accounts and payroll functions
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and management reports
- Provide regular financial reporting and analysis to senior management
- Monitor cash flow and budget performance
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Oversee payroll, PAYG, STP and employee entitlement processes
- Prepare and coordinate BAS, GST and IAS reporting
- Manage reconciliations, accruals, assets and depreciation schedules
- Coordinate annual financial statements and audit requirements
- Manage financial compliance across relevant ATO, ASIC and state requirements
- Oversee insurance registers, renewals and claims
- Support funding reconciliations, acquittals and reporting
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts team
- Work closely with HR on payroll, awards and employee entitlement matters

You’ll Thrive If You:

- Have a degree or formal tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Are currently studying towards, or interested in pursuing, CPA or CA
- Have strong experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bookkeeping
- Have excellent knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation principles
- Have solid knowledge of Australian accounting,

taxation and compliance requirements
- Are highly confident with accounting and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, Xero and Employment Hero
- Have strong STP, payroll and reporting knowledge
- Can work independently, prioritise competing deadlines and take ownership
- Are commercially minded and able to turn financial information into practical advice
- Communicate confidently with senior management, staff, external consultants and auditors
- Are solutions-focused, adaptable and comfortable working across a busy organisation
- Leadership experience is highly regarded.

The Opportunity

This is a senior role with genuine ownership and influence over financial processes.

This isn't a role where we're expecting you to walk in knowing everything on day one. We understand that you may be early in your career.

We'll provide the opportunity to develop your practical experience across accounting, payroll, reporting, compliance and financial management while working alongside an experienced team of consultants.

In return, we want someone who is hungry to learn, willing to take responsibility and excited about growing into the role.
