Fina Australia | Brisbane North & Moreton Bay Region
At Fina Australia, we believe every mealtime is an opportunity to promote dignity, independence, connection, and enjoyment. We're looking for a qualified Chef who is passionate about developing others and creating meaningful change through education, mentoring, and great food.
This is more than a chef role. It's an opportunity to empower support staff with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to deliver safe, nutritious, and person-centered mealtime experiences for people with disability.
If you enjoy coaching others, sharing your expertise, and making a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As our Chef, you'll work across our services to support and educate staff in best-practice food preparation and mealtime management. Through hands-on coaching, practical workshops, and ongoing mentoring, you'll help build confident teams that consistently deliver high-quality, safe, and enjoyable meals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver practical training and coaching in food preparation, presentation, and kitchen best practices.
- Provide education on texture-modified meals in accordance with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) Framework.
- Facilitate engaging, hands-on workshops that build staff skills, confidence, and consistency.
- Support staff in understanding nutrition, food safety, infection control, and person-centered mealtime practices.
- Develop easy-to-follow training resources, recipes, and kitchen guides.
- Promote positive kitchen culture and continuous improvement across all services.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure compliance with Fina standards and individual support needs.
- Travel to Fina Australia locations across the Brisbane North and Moreton Bay region as required.
About You
You are a qualified chef who enjoys helping others succeed and takes pride in sharing your knowledge.
You will bring:
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Formal chef qualifications.
- Strong practical cooking skills and food safety knowledge with the ability to simplify cooking techniques and explain concepts clearly.
- A collaborative, patient, and supportive approach to training others.
- Robust organisational and meal time-management skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel between Fina Australia service sites.
Experience in disability services, aged care, allied health, or staff training is highly regarded but not essential. We value enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of people with disability.
Everything we do is guided by our core values of Truth, Trust, Respect and Care.
Why Join Fina Australia?
At Fina Australia, you'll be part of a values-driven organisation committed to excellence in disability support. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution by improving mealtime experiences that enhance health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
We offer:
- Salary Packaging within a NFP to maximise your take home pay.
- A rewarding role where your expertise creates lasting impact.
- Opportunities to mentor and develop others across multiple services.
- Ongoing professional development in mealtime management and disability support.
- A supportive, collaborative, and inclusive workplace culture.
- The opportunity to help shape best-practice mealtime services across Fina.
