Riddwood Consulting Engineers
New South Wales
Riddwood is a specialist Construction Engineering consultancy dedicated to designing temporary works solutions across Australia. In a world of generalists, we are proud to be specialists – trusted by contractors of all sizes to design the temporary works that make construction possible.
From bridges and tunnels to complex civil and building structures, our engineers combine strong technical expertise with practical construction knowledge to deliver safe, buildable and efficient solutions that keep projects moving.
We are looking for a Junior Engineer to join our Engineering team and build their career while contributing to some of Australia’s major infrastructure projects.
In this role, you will work on complex projects involving tunnels, bridges and large-scale civil structures. You will develop and deliver engineering solutions that bring together structural design and construction methodology, with involvement across the full project lifecycle—from concept design and detailed analysis through to construction support and site inspections.
You will work closely with experienced engineers who understand both design and construction, giving you the opportunity to learn through real project experience, regular guidance and practical feedback. As your skills develop, you will take on increasing responsibility, build your technical and commercial understanding, and work towards managing your own designs and client relationships.
This is an opportunity to develop as a well-rounded construction engineer, solve real construction challenges and see your designs come to life on site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform structural calculations and analysis under supervision and in accordance with Riddwood’s design guidelines, Australian Standards and quality assurance processes.
Assist with the design and review of temporary structures in steel, concrete and timber across major infrastructure,
civil and building projects.
Develop your structural analysis and design skills while producing accurate calculations, design reports and supporting documentation.
Work collaboratively within the design team, supporting senior engineers and contributing to technical problem-solving.
Liaise with engineers, drafters, clients and construction teams to understand design requirements and maintain clear communication throughout each project.
Undertake site inspections to build your understanding of construction methods and temporary works in practice.
ABOUT YOU
You are someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is eager to learn and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
You will hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering that is recognised by Engineers Australia, and have full working rights in Australia.
You will also have:
A basic understanding of the Australian Design Standards, including AS 1170, AS 1720, AS 3600, AS 3610, AS 4100 and AS 5100.
Valuable working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in common business software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and SharePoint.
Experience using engineering and modelling software such as Autodesk Robot, Tekla Tedds or Revit will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
OUR OFFER
A competitive salary package and the tools and technology you need to perform your role effectively.
Structured learning, regular feedback and mentoring from experienced engineers.
Hands-on experience across major infrastructure and construction projects.
The opportunity to see your designs implemented on site.
A supportive and collaborative team of like-minded professionals.
A transparent pathway for increasing responsibility and career progression as your skills develop.
The opportunity to join Australia’s largest specialist Temporary Works engineering teams.
