About the Role

This is a full-time leadership opportunity with Lifeline, one of Australia's leading mental health and suicide prevention organisations.

Lifeline Regional SA & Far West NSW is seeking a passionate, qualified and experienced counsellor or social worker ready to take their next step into leadership as the Centre Coordinator at the Broken Hill Connect Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to combine counselling practice, leadership, community/stakeholder engagement and service development in a role that improves the the well-being of people across regional communities.

As the Connect Centre Coordinator, you will lead the day-to-day operations of our Broken Hill Connect Centre, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based counselling and support services. You will provide leadership, supervise staff and volunteers, coordinate referrals, strengthen community partnerships, and contribute to suicide prevention initiatives across the region.

This is more than a management role, it's an opportunity to help shape services that respond to the evolving needs of our community while supporting a dedicated team committed to making a lasting impact. The role includes opportunities for outreach to remote communities, positive promotion of the service across the region and building on our service reach through robust collaboration with other organisations and community engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the daily operations of the Connect Centre. Lead and support a team of counsellors, support staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional services to individuals and the community.

- Promote volunteering opportunities and undertake recruitment processes at the Connect Centre. Complete assessment of new volunteers ensuring organisational standards are met. Undertake rostering of volunteers to ensure service continuity.

- Provide compassionate, evidence-based counselling to individuals and families

- Coordinate the assessing and allocation of incoming referrals within the team, including responding to crisis presentations.

- Monitor the performance of the service, identifying emerging trends. Collaborate with the Regional Coordinator Connect Centres to ensure community needs are met and service delivery goals, including KPIs are achieved.

- Lead a positive, supportive and culturally safe service environment

- Build strong collaborative relationships with community organisations and stakeholders.

- Support and promote the How's Ya Mate program in collaboration with the Project Coordinator.





- Ensure services meet professional, ethical and accreditation standards.

- Identify and respond to opportunities to improve services and respond to emerging community needs in collaboration with the Regional Coordinator Connect Centres.

- Develop strategies to further engage with communities to reduce high rates of suicide.

- Develop and maintain a learning environment by taking a coaching approach to team development, individual capability development and performance management.

Selection criteria

- Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, or Psychology.

- Current member of a professional body (e.g. ACA, PCFA or AASW), or eligibility and willingness to obtain membership.

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development including maintenance of accreditations.

- Demonstrated computer proficiency in a range of applications.

- Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills (working with a diverse range of individuals and groups).

- Demonstrated high level of organisational and administration skills.

- Demonstrated time management skills including ability to meet deadlines.

- Knowledge of and commitment to WHS principals.

- Demonstrated understanding and adherence to LLSAFWNSW Vision, Belief and Shared values.

- Self-awareness and growth.

- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

- Willingness to travel remotely and occasionally stay overnight.

- Undertake National Police check.

- Working with Children Check.

- Current NSW Driver’s license.

Desirable

- Experience working in Clinical and Non-clinical settings.

- Experience working with volunteers

- Experience working in a suicide prevention/intervention or mental health service.
