We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Plant Operators to join our team across a range of civil and electrical infrastructure projects.
About the Role
As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently excavating trenches and preparing works for cable and duct installation across various project sites.
Working closely with Leading Hands and Project Managers, you will play a key role in ensuring excavation works are completed to specification, on schedule and in accordance with all WHS and network requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, equipment and contribution to the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and/or backhoes safely and efficiently
- Excavate trenches to construction specifications
- Read and interpret construction and service plans
- Identify underground services and mark out trench locations
- Coordinate plant fuel, servicing and transport requirements
- Complete daily plant inspections, logbooks and maintenance checks
- Barricade trenches and open excavations as required
- Ensure excavation works are completed ahead of laying crews
- Assist with trench backfilling and reinstatement works
- Participate in daily risk assessments and safety procedures
- Report hazards, incidents, project variations and maintenance issues
- Maintain accurate daily documentation and timesheets
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current Excavator and/or Backhoe competency tickets
- Construction White Card
- Work Near Underground Assets training
- Relevant Electrical Safety Rules certification
- Network Authorisation (desirable/advantageous)
- Experience in civil or electrical infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of safe excavation practices
- Ability to read and interpret plans
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Good communication and teamwork skills
