About the Role

As our Assistant Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the Finance team by delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of finance operations. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll contribute to reconciliations, reporting, compliance, process improvements, and a variety of finance projects, while partnering with stakeholders across the business to support informed decision-making and drive operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Processing & Reconciliations

- Perform daily bank and cash reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately in line with internal procedures.
- Review, match, correct, and code transactions to the appropriate general ledger accounts within MYOB Advanced.

Journals, Reporting & Compliance

- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and approvals.
- Assist with GST checks, financial reviews, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Support internal controls, accounting compliance, audit preparation, and finance-related queries.
- Provide timely support to internal stakeholders on finance queries.
- Contribute to system improvements, data clean-up, testing, and process improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, accuracy,



and efficiency while supporting month-end and broader Finance team activities.

About You

Mandatory:

- Relevant experience in an accounting or finance support role, with progress toward or completion of tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Sound time management, with the ability to meet deadlines and communicate clearly, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a professional, confidential, and values-aligned approach
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Accounting
- Experience in a fast-paced or multi-entity environment, ideally within aged care, healthcare, or services-based organisations
- Confidence with finance systems and Microsoft 365, particularly Excell>
