Job Description
The Client: Telelink Pty Ltd is an Australian provider of advanced telecommunications solutions, specialising in offering cutting-edge and reliable telecommunications services. They now seek a skilled and qualified Telecommunication Lines Worker to join their team in Lutana in TAS on a full time basis.
The Role
This is for a full time position with an annual salary between $80,000 to $85,000 depending on experience plus superannuation. The role will be based in Lutana in TAS.
Responsibilities
- ? The Responsibilities: Reviewing blueprints, schematics, and specifications for equipment installations and understanding where and how the equipment (loopaline, jdsu linester, fiber meter, pon meter, lockout kit, gas detector, video probe, harnsess & ladders) will be positioned and connected to ensure correct installation and functionality.
- Using various instruments such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, and transmission measuring equipment to detect faults or malfunctions in telecommunications systems. This involves diagnosing issues in wiring, equipment, or signal transmission. Connecting wiring and cables to different appliances or equipment.
- This involves proper handling of wires to ensure secure and safe connections for functionality. Adjusting, replacing, or repairing the faulty components. Also, testing the equipment using electronic instruments to ensure it functions correctly.
- Installing various types of cabling systems for telecommunications, including those used for telephones, radio broadcasts, pay TV, and internet transmission. This involves both physical installation and ensuring proper signal flow. This involves connecting cables together securely and sealing the cable sheaths using lead or thermoplastic materials to ensure the integrity of the connection, especially in outdoor or harsh environments.
- Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting both aerial (above-ground)
and underground wiring systems for various telecommunications services. This includes erecting antennas for radio and mobile phone communication and ensuring they perform optimal Installing telecommunication devices like telephones, switchboards, and data transmission equipment and ensures these devices are set up correctly and are functioning according to specifications.
Requirements
- At least a Diploma qualification in Telecommunications or a related field At least 2 years full time post qualification experience as a Telecommunications Lines Worker
- At least 2 years’ experience installing, maintaining, testing, and fault finding telecommunications copper, fibre, aerial, underground, and customer premises cabling systems At least 2 years’ experience using telecommunications testing equipment including Loopaline, JDSU line tester, fibre meter, PON meter, ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, and transmission measuring instruments
- At least 2 years’ experience diagnosing signal loss, cable faults, wiring defects, equipment malfunction, poor transmission quality, and connectivity failures across telecommunications networks
- At least 2 years’ experience terminating, jointing, sealing, repairing, and securing telecommunications cables, including lead or thermoplastic sheath sealing for outdoor and underground cable integrity At least 2 years’ experience installing and commissioning telecommunication devices, antennas, switchboards, data transmission equipment, internet cabling, pay TV cabling, and telephone systems Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform on-site analysis and resolution of technical problems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiarity with maintaining detailed logs and documentation of inventories, parts, equipment, and instruments, as well as communication policies and procedures Ability to liaise effectively with vendors, suppliers, service providers, and external resources to monitor contractual obligations and performance delivery
