Chat Thai is one of Sydney's most loved and established Thai restaurant groups, known for authentic, high-quality Thai cuisine across our CBD venues. We're looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen operations and uphold the standards our customers expect.

The role

Reporting to the venue and operations management, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of a busy, high-volume Thai kitchen - leading the team, maintaining quality and consistency, and keeping operations running smoothly and profitably.

Responsibilities

- Oversee daily kitchen operations, service flow, and food quality across all sections
- Lead, roster, and train kitchen staff to maintain performance and consistency
- Manage food ordering, stock control, and supplier relationships to control costs and minimise waste
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene (HACCP), and WHS standards
- Maintain authentic Thai recipes, techniques, and presentation standards
- Monitor kitchen costs, portion control, and margins in line with targets




- Work closely with front-of-house and management to deliver a seamless guest experience

About you

- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, or Sous Chef in a busy restaurant
- Strong knowledge of authentic Thai cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques
- Thai language skills are an advantage, as the role involves communicating with Thai-speaking kitchen staff and maintaining authentic recipes
- Solid leadership, rostering, and team-management skills
- Sound understanding of food safety, stock control, and cost management
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
