Newly created Senior Legal Counsel opportunity with a well-established ASX-listed financial services business operating across funds management, responsible entity services and exchange traded funds.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this is a rare opportunity to join a collaborative and high-performing business in a broad legal role with the prospect to mentor a Junior Legal Counsel. You'll advise across funds management, commercial transactions, governance, regulatory matters and strategic business initiatives while working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the General Counsel, your responsibilities will include:

- Advising on a broad range of commercial, corporate and strategic legal matters.
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Supporting fund launches, restructures, product development and strategic initiatives.
- Advising on managed investment schemes, responsible entity obligations and broader financial services regulation.
- Supporting Board and governance processes.
- Partnering closely with the Risk & Compliance team on regulatory matters including AFSL, AML/CTF, privacy and DDO obligations.
- Managing external legal advisers where required.
- Supervising and mentoring a Junior Legal Counsel.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

- Ideally 8–10 years' post qualification experience gained in private practice or in house. However, candidates with strong funds management experience and a minimum of 5 years' PQE are also encouraged to apply.




- Strong experience in financial services and funds management.
- Experience advising on funds management transactions and strategic projects.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with experience preparing and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Well-developed corporate and commercial legal skills.
- The ability to manage matters independently and provide commercially focused legal advice with minimal supervision.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering directly with senior business leaders.

The following experience will be highly regarded:

- Experience working within a funds management business, responsible entity or broader financial services organisation.
- Experience advising on managed investment schemes, AFSL obligations and broader financial services regulation.
- Exposure to DDO, AML/CTF, privacy and corporate governance matters.
- Previous in-house experience.
- Exposure to risk and compliance functions.
- Experience supervising, mentoring or developing junior lawyers.
