Skillset is seeking an experienced and highly organised Production Assistant to join our client’s commercial upholstery manufacturing team in Bathurst. This is a permanent office-based position within a well-established and respected local company, focused on supporting production planning, job coordination and administration.
This is a key support role that requires someone with excellent attention to detail, strong computer skills, confident communication skills and the ability to keep production running efficiently from within the production office environment.
About the Role
As the Production Assistant, you will support day‑to‑day production planning, job preparation, freight bookings, transport logistics, production information management and material flow coordination across the manufacturing team.
This role is suited to a proactive and reliable individual who can work independently, manage administration tasks, communicate professionally with suppliers, clients and internal teams, and work closely with the factory team to support a fast‑paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with production planning and job preparation
- Read and interpret production drawings and plans
- Update and manage production information accurately
- Assist with job coordination and material flow
- Coordinate freight bookings and transport logistics
- Support the production team with scheduling and administration
- Manage email correspondence and respond professionally to enquiries
- Communicate confidently with suppliers, clients and internal teams over the phone
About You
We are looking for a highly organiser individual who takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail and is comfortable supporting production through planning, coordination, administration and communication.
To be successful, you will have:
- Confidence using computers, including Microsoft Excel and Windows
- Experience using or willingness to learn Vectorworks drawing software
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings and plans
- Robust written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage emails, answer phone calls and respond professionally to enquiries
- Proactive, reliable and able to work independently while working closely with the factory team
