Cassowary Coast Regional Council – Innisfail QLD

We are seeking a passionate and community-focused Community Development Officer to cover a parental leave vacancy and deliver initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing and create positive social and economic outcomes across the Cassowary Coast. Working closely with the Principal Community Development & Advocacy, you will develop and deliver a diverse range of strategic and operational programs that respond to local needs.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with community groups, government agencies and internal stakeholders to build strong partnerships, support community capacity and deliver place-based initiatives that make a meaningful difference to the region.

$89,037 p.a. + super + locality allowance

Fixed Term Full Time until April 2027 (with possibility of extension)

Monthly RDO + 5 Weeks Annual Leave + 3 Weeks Personal Leave

About the Role

Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Plan and deliver community programs, events, grants and advocacy initiatives.

Engage with diverse community groups to support inclusion and wellbeing.

Evaluate programs to improve outcomes and community satisfaction.

Provide expert advice to support Council's community development objectives.

Skills & Experience

Diploma in Community Development or equivalent experience.

Experience delivering community development programs in regional communities.

Experience engaging with diverse community groups and stakeholders.

Experience planning and delivering community events and grants.

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.

Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.





Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.

Experience in local, state or federal government.

Knowledge of Council operations and processes.

Experience using SmartyGrants.
