Second-In-Charge Packing Operator (2IC) - Night Shift

In Australia & New Zealand ARYZTA operates across three large-scale industrial bakeries based in VIC, NSW and New Zealand. Our Liverpool, NSW site is the biggest bakery in the Asia-Pacific region, with over 300 people working across four areas, including fresh buns, frozen products, cakes and desserts.

The Role:
Due to an internal promotion, we now have an opportunity for a Second-in-Charge Packing Operator (2IC) to join our Liverpool Fresh bakery night shift team.

In this hands‑on role, you will support the Night Shift Packing Team Leader in the ongoing operations to ensure the packaging room runs smoothly, safely and efficiently.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a production/packing/machine operator with a can‑do attitude and problem solving skills to take the next career step into team leadership.

What You’ll Do:

Packing & Machine Operation

- Support the Packing Team Leader in coordinating workflow on the packing line.
- Set up, operate and troubleshoot flow of UBE, Lematics, and other equipment in the wrapping room.
- Ensure correct packaging materials are used and all traceability records are completed as required.
- Monitor product quality and communicate defects or issues promptly.
- Step in as point of contact in the absence of the Team Leader.
- Help minimise waste and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality & Safety

- Perform quality checks and accurately record rejects.
- Report all food safety incidents, deviations, hazards, near misses or breakdowns.




- Follow HACCP, GMP, hygiene and all safety procedures.
- Complete weekly Safety Walks.

Teamwork & Communication

- Allocate tasks to Packing Operators and provide on-the-job training for new team members.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Support the Leading Hand with break coverage and schedule updates.
- Model positive team behaviour and help maintain a safe and productive work environment.

What You’ll Bring:

- 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing, ideally in the Food/FMCG/Pharma or similar industry.
- Good communication skills and readiness to step into leadership responsibilities.
- Machine operation experience will be highly preferred.
- Robust understanding of HACCP, GMP and food safety standards.
- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work at pace, troubleshoot issues and use initiative.
- Physical capacity for heavy lifting (up to 25kg).

Working Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 38 hours per week as per roster, with shift times between 9.30pm and 10.00am.
