We are seeking an experienced Head Teacher to join our senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery, quality and continuous improvement of several nationally recognised qualifications while leading and mentoring a team of Trainers and Assessors.
This role is ideal for an experienced VET skilled who enjoys leading people, developing high-quality training resources, maintaining compliance, and making a genuine impact on educational outcomes. While this is a management position, you will also remain connected to the classroom by delivering training when required to support your team.
About the Role
As the Head Teacher, you will provide educational leadership across the following qualifications:
- Certificate III in Individual Support
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
- Certificate IV in Ageing Support
- Certificate IV in Leisure and Health
- Diploma of Community Services
You will lead a team of Trainers and Assessors, oversee course quality and compliance, support student success, and drive continuous improvement across your training portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor and support a team of Trainers and Assessors.
- Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and support professional development.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning.
- Step in to deliver training and assessment when operationally required.
Educational Quality
- Oversee the quality and consistency of training delivery across your qualifications.
- Develop, review and continuously improve Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), learning resources and assessment tools.
- Ensure training materials remain current, industry-relevant and compliant.
- Participate in industry consultation and continuous improvement activities.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and Charter Australia's policies and procedures.
- Lead validation, moderation and quality assurance activities.
- Monitor qualification performance and implement improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure learning resources and student information are effectively managed within the student record management system.
Student Success
- Monitor student progress and identify students requiring additional support.
- Work collaboratively with trainers and administration to ensure positive student outcomes.
- Oversee the management of complaints, appeals and student support within your training portfolio.
- Liaise with the administration team regarding work placements and student progression.
Course Planning & Development
- Assist with course planning,
scheduling and trainer allocations.
- Support the development of new qualifications and delivery models.
- Ensure educational resources remain contemporary, engaging and aligned with industry needs.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Essential
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
- Relevant vocational qualifications in Health and Individual Support
- Demonstrated experience delivering nationally recognised VET qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of the Standards for RTOs and the Australian VET sector.
- Experience leading or mentoring Trainers and Assessors.
- Experience developing or reviewing learning resources, assessment tools and Training and Assessment Strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and educational quality.
Desirable
- Current registered Nurse with APRHA
- Experience using aXcelerate Student Management System
- Experience working with both domestic and international students.
- Experience managing multiple qualifications and educational teams.
