Coffs Harbour City Council
Pillars of Care is seeking compassionate, reliable and motivated FEMALE Disability Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team in Coffs Harbour.
As a Support Worker, you will support participants with a diverse range of needs, assisting them to live independently while promoting choice, dignity and meaningful participation in everyday life.
No two days are the same. You may be supporting someone with personal care, medication assistance, appointments or community access, while another participant may require additional support due to psychosocial disabilities, mental health conditions or behaviours of concern.
We are looking for support workers who genuinely enjoy getting to know the people they support. People who can build trust, recognise changes in a participant's presentation and use proactive communication and de-escalation strategies to help create positive outcomes.
Strong documentation skills are also essential. Our support workers complete professional progress notes, incident reports and behaviour observations that help the wider team understand what is working, identify patterns and continually improve the quality of support provided.
We're looking for people who:
Have a genuine passion for supporting people to live meaningful and independent lives.
Enjoy building positive relationships with participants and their families.
Have experience supporting people with disability, mental health conditions or psychosocial disabilities (highly regarded but not essential).
Can remain calm under pressure and respond professionally during challenging situations.
Have strong observation, communication and problem-solving skills.
Can work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive team culture.
Take pride in completing clear, accurate and professional documentation.
One of the qualities we value most is personality. We encourage our support workers to bring their own interests and passions into the role. Whether you enjoy music, dancing, cooking, art, gardening, fitness or other hobbies, we believe these interests help create meaningful experiences and genuine connections with participants.
We're also looking for people who value teamwork. At Pillars of Care, we work together, share ideas and support one another because we know the best outcomes for participants come from solid communication and a united team approach.
Training, mentoring and ongoing support are provided by our experienced Team Leaders and Management to help every team member continue developing their skills and confidence.
