Join Cross River Rail in a client-side safety leadership position. The role focuses on influencing contractor culture and performance, leading assurance, critical risk and compliance activities, and providing expert safety advice across a complex rail infrastructure environment. You will also mentor project teams, help strengthen internal safety capability and support informed decision making through clear reporting and stakeholder engagement. A career defining opportunity to help deliver lasting outcomes for Brisbane and South East Queensland.

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is building a new 10.2km rail line that includes 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD; with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street.

Once complete, it will provide trains with a much-needed alternative rail path through the core of the current SEQ Rail network, unlocking a bottleneck and allowing more trains to run more often across the whole of South East Queensland.

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also delivering multiple supporting projects and activities in conjunction with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. These include accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations, construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast; upgrades for stabling yards; track works and surface rail enhancements; and the introduction of a new ETCS digital signalling system.

About The Role

The Safety Manager provides client-side leadership, guidance and oversight of safety across assigned Cross River Rail works packages. You will influence contractor culture and performance, support critical risk management activities and help ensure CRRDA's safety systems are effectively embedded throughout project delivery.

Working closely with project teams, contractors and senior stakeholders,

you will lead assurance activities, provide trusted safety advice and contribute to informed decision making through clear reporting and communication. The role also plays an important part in mentoring teams, strengthening safety capability and driving continuous improvement across a complex delivery environment.

This is a career defining opportunity to apply your expertise on a project that is reshaping Brisbane's transport network and will leave a lasting legacy for the city and SEQLD. This opportunity is offered as a twelve month fixed term contract with possible extension.

About You

- Tertiary qualifications in a safety-related discipline, with strong knowledge of risk management, safety assurance, incident investigation and systems implementation.
- Experience in major infrastructure, construction or mining projects, with a sound understanding of contractor safety management and client-side governance.
