The Engagement Officer plays a vital role in connecting passionate community members with meaningful volunteer opportunities across Wesley Mission Queensland. As the central point for volunteer recruitment and onboarding, this position is responsible for delivering the end-to-end recruitment and placement process while ensuring all compliance requirements are met.

Working collaboratively with service leaders and community stakeholders, the Engagement Officer builds strong volunteer pipelines, supports successful volunteer integration, and contributes to a positive and engaging volunteer experience that strengthens our services and communities.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing the end-to-end recruitment, selection, onboarding and placement of volunteers across Wesley Mission Queensland services.
- Developing and implementing targeted volunteer attraction campaigns across digital platforms, community networks and events.
- Partnering with service leaders to identify volunteer needs and develop clear, engaging volunteer position descriptions.
- Conducting volunteer screening, interviews, reference checks and ensuring all onboarding compliance requirements are completed.
- Acting as the central point of contact for prospective volunteers, providing professional guidance and support throughout the recruitment journey.
- Maintaining accurate volunteer records across CRM, Volunteer Management Systems and other organisational platforms.
- Monitoring recruitment activity and reporting on volunteer pipelines, placement outcomes and recruitment effectiveness.
- Supporting volunteer recognition initiatives and representing Volunteer Relations at internal and external engagement events.




- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure successful volunteer placements and ongoing collaboration.
- Assisting with additional duties as directed by the Engagement Coordinator or Team Leader.

This is a part-time position consisting of 24 hours per week.

What We’re Looking For

- Understanding of the non-profit sector and the operational requirements of delivering volunteer services in diverse community settings.
- Experience in end-to-end recruitment, including multi-channel sourcing, candidate screening and values‑aligned interviewing.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team setting to achieve high-performance outcomes.




- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in drafting targeted marketing content, position descriptions, general correspondence and related documentation.
- High-level accuracy in data entry and documentation, ensuring meticulous record‑keeping and regulatory compliance.
- Experience using CRM platforms, Volunteer Management Systems, Learning Management Systems or similar systems for data management and activity tracking.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel as required.

A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!

- Tertiary qualification, diploma or equivalent experience in Community Services, Volunteer Management, Human Resources, Administration, Events Management or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement and the volunteer lifecycle.
- Awareness of Australian legislative requirements within the aged care, disability and community sectors as they relate to volunteer compliance and onboarding.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy).
- Relevant probity checks required by legislation and Wesley Mission Queensland policy.
