Are you passionate about payroll and looking to join a collaborative and supportive team within a global business? Ritchie Bros. is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to join our People Team in Brisbane.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for approximately 250 employees across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with local legislation and company procedures.

The Payroll Supervisor implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions while ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates across multiple entities.
The ideal candidate combines strong payroll expertise with leadership skills, managing a small team and exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage payroll processes in a rapid-paced, international environment.

What you’ll do
- Monitor payroll controls and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Process fortnightly payroll for Australia and New Zealand employees
- Reconcile timesheets, leave balances, and other payroll data
- Respond to employee queries around payroll, tax, and benefits
- Assist with payroll account reconciliations
- Maintain payroll documentation and ensure data accuracy
- Prepare payroll reports for internal stakeholders
- Create Payroll Manuals for Team members to utilize
- Collaborate with internal teams and external payroll vendors
- Process bi-weekly payroll, including inputting data.
- Answer employee questions regarding their benefit accruals.
- Monitor and verify tax deposits and returns.
- Audit payroll records.
- Ensure compliance with country-specific payroll legislation, tax requirements, labor laws, and reporting obligations including journalling.
What you bring
- 5+ years' experience in Payroll Management
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills while collaborating with cross-functional departments.
- Experience supporting payroll in APAC is a plus.
- Experience with Workday, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, or other enterprise HRIS/payroll systems is preferred.
- Must be able to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong prioritization skills by proactively managing day-to-day tasks, including balancing new assignments with an active inventory.
- Strategic thinking and foresight.
- Experience leading payroll transformation or system implementation projects is a strong asset.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to a fast-paced culture, changes in the environment, and shifts in priorities.
