We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Safety Advisor to support our client, a leader in civil construction, water infrastructure, and smart water-management solutions. This role focuses on strengthening safety culture, improving WHSE performance, and supporting the implementation of Health, Safety, Wellness, Environmental, and Sustainability strategies across busy project environments.
You will work closely with operational teams to deliver field-based safety engagements, ensure compliance with legislation and ISO45001, lead incident investigations, and support practical risk‑management initiatives. Your guidance will help shape safer workplaces, influence positive behaviours, and drive continuous improvement across all divisions.
Based full time at our client's Docklands site, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a safety-focused organisation and play a key role in delivering high-quality WHSE outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Health, Safety, Wellness, Environmental, and Sustainability strategies.
- Ensure adherence to Workplace Health and Safety systems in compliance with legislation, Codes of Practice, Standards, Workers Compensation standards, and ISO45001
- Provide Health and Safety expertise using data and insights to identify and manage key risks.
- Conduct regular HS&E; leadership field visits, audits, and safety conversations to foster a positive safety culture.
- Provide HSE performance data and analysis, with recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct End-of-Month (EOM) Reporting for assigned divisional areas and clients.
- Manage internal and external safety and environmental reporting, including Return to Work coordination.
- Advise field personnel (Supervisors, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Field Workers) on health and safety practices, including implementation of HSE Management Plans and safe systems of work.
- Oversee incident investigation and recording, ensuring corrective actions are developed, implemented,
and monitored for effectiveness.
- Issue non-conformance reports and manage Corrective Action Reports for HS&E; issues.
- Recommend improvements in work instructions, procedures, guidelines, and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMSs).
- Assist field personnel with the management and close‑out of client non-conformance reports.
What We’re Looking For
- Certificate IV or higher in Work Health and Safety.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (highly regarded).
- Strong computer skills with experience in safety reporting systems and documentation.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, WHS legislation, and Codes of Practice.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a health and safety role, with demonstratedexperience implementing and managing safety systems.
- Proven experience conducting workplace inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, and safety reporting.
- Experience working within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or similar project environments will be highly regarded.
- Experience supporting operational teams in the implementation of safety improvements and risk controls.
- Willingness to travel across Melbourne project sites as required.
