Purchasing Officer - Redbank | Manufacturing & Defence Industry (Full-Time)

Our client is a manufacturing business based in Redbank, supporting production, engineering and maintenance operations across the Quantum-Systems group. They're looking for a Purchasing Officer to keep materials, components and services flowing on time and on budget. This is a hands‑on purchasing role, not a desk‑bound admin job. You'll be raising and expediting purchase orders, chasing suppliers, resolving pricing and delivery issues, and making sure the ERP system reflects reality. If production is waiting on a part, you're the one making sure it turns up.

What you'll be doing

- Processing approved requisitions and raising purchase orders accurately and on time
- Getting quotes, comparing pricing, lead times and availability
- Expediting orders and following up suppliers to avoid production delays
- Sorting out pricing discrepancies, shortages, damaged goods and delivery issues
- Building solid working relationships with approved suppliers, including onboarding new ones
- Keeping purchasing records and supplier documentation accurate in the ERP system
- Supporting Finance with invoice matching and payment queries




- Looking for ways to cut purchasing costs and improve the process along the way

What you'll bring

- 2-4 years' experience in purchasing, buying or supply chain, ideally in manufacturing, defence, aerospace or engineering
- Solid experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Comfortable juggling multiple purchase orders and shifting priorities without dropping the ball
- Strong attention to detail and organisation
- Good written and verbal communication
- Confident with Microsoft Office

Nice to have

- Cert IV or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics or Business
- Experience in an ISO9001 environment
- Exposure to a Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) setting

A few practical notes

This role is based in a warehouse/manufacturing environment, so there's some standing, lifting (up to 10kg), and PPE involved alongside the desk work. Given the defence‑related work, you'll need to hold or be eligible to obtain an appropriate Australian Government security clearance, and a National Police Check is required.
