Mercy Community are on the search for a passionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our Bright Beginnings team. Permanent Part time and Full-time roles available based in Herston. Shifts will involve nights and weekends which will include penalties. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we look forward to a current dynamic journey within our Bright Beginnings team.
The successful applicant is responsible for contributing to the provision of a safe and supportive workplace for vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers and their babies in the Mercy Community Intensive Support House. The role requires provision of practical and emotional support to mothers to secure safe and stable housing, access perinatal and mental health services and improve their parenting skills and gain confidence in caring for their baby and develop and maintain living skills.
This role involves but not limited to -
- Provide information, education, modelling and support to mothers to develop appropriate independent living skills and baby care skills by implementing Family Support Plans developed by the Caseworker
- Provide support and guidance to the mothers to implement the routines and feeding schedule for their baby according to the plans developed by the Coordinator
- Transport the mothers to pre-approved appointments/outings where required
- Engage the mothers in supervised outings on weekends where the whole house will plan and attend
About you
- Certificate III or higher in Community Services or related discipline and relevant experience OR
- Relevant experience from previous employment, services, or studies that qualifies you to undertake the main duties of the role,
including working with babies and their families
- Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working With Children Check) or ability to apply
- Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver Licence
- First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
- Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
