About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Nursery Manager to lead daily operations at our Lindendale Nursery. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you'll take ownership of everything from propagation and plant production through to staff leadership, customer order fulfilment, and R&D; support.
This is a role for someone who loves being on the ground — someone who can lead a team, troubleshoot plant health issues in real time, and keep production targets on track without sacrificing quality.
What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee day-to-day nursery operations including propagation, potting, irrigation, nutrition, and dispatch
- Manage propagation programs for Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, and other crops as required.
- Monitor plant health and coordinate crop protection and IPM programs
- Lead, supervise, and develop nursery staff and seasonal labour
- Work with the Plant Supply team to fulfil customer orders on time and to specification
- Collaborate with R&D; Managers to support breeding programs and trial plant requirements
- Maintain NIASA compliance, accurate records, and quality assurance standards
- Assist with budget management, labour planning, and operational reporting
What You'll Bring
- Proven hands-on experience in commercial nursery production — Blueberry, Rubus, or soft fruit experience highly regarded
- Strong propagation skills and understanding of growing, irrigation, fertigation, and substrate management
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise teams in a production workplace
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and production schedules
- Experience working within NIASA or similar accreditation frameworks (preferred)
- Good communication skills and a collaborative working style
- Computer literacy and attention to detail in record-keeping
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Why Join Mountain Blue?
- Be part of a purpose-driven company at the forefront of berry breeding and plant production
- Work in a collaborative environment alongside agronomy, R&D;, and horticulture specialists
- Genuine opportunity to grow and develop your career in nursery management
- Stable, full-time role based at our Lindendale site
