The Village School Gold Coast – Coolangatta QLD
The Village School Gold Coast is seeking a confident, warm and capable primary teacher to lead our Year 1/2 composite class while their teacher takes parental leave.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position from Monday 31 August to Friday 4 December 2026.
With only 15 students, collaboration with our other Year 1/2 teacher and access to a shared teacher assistant, this is an opportunity to build genuine relationships, know every learner deeply and finish the year with purpose.

The Village School Gold Coast is an independent, non-denominational Prep–Year 6 school located opposite Coolangatta Beach.
Our motto is “Changing the face of learning”. Inquiry, curiosity, connection and learning beyond the classroom are woven into each day. Our students take their learning into the surrounding community daily through VAT—Village Adventure Time.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The successful applicant will:
- Plan and deliver engaging Year 1/2 learning aligned with Australian Curriculum v9.
- Use inquiry-based approaches and meaningful, real-world learning.
- Differentiate teaching, learning and assessment for individual strengths, needs and readiness.
- Deliver explicit, evidence-informed literacy teaching, including systematic synthetic phonics and/or Science of Reading practices.
- Maintain calm, consistent classroom routines and high expectations for learning, behaviour and participation.
- Complete assessment, documentation and end-of-year reporting for Term 4.
- Work closely with the other Year 1/2 teacher and shared teacher assistant.
- Participate actively in incursions, excursions, outdoor daily adventures and beach-based activities.
- Attend the weekly Tuesday staff meeting and contribute actively to our small-school community.
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Classroom teaching experience is strongly preferred. More importantly, you will be ready to step confidently into an established class, exercise sound professional judgement and work with a high degree of initiative.
You will demonstrate:
- Current Queensland College of Teachers registration, which must be held before commencement.
- Strong curriculum, assessment, differentiation and classroom-management capability.
- A warm, respectful and professional approach with children and families.
- Reliability, organisation, flexibility and a willingness to wear many hats.
- A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback, shared planning and qualified learning.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain school-funded training.
