Bishop Collins Chartered Accountants is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to join our team on a full-time basis at our Tuggerah Head Office on the sunny Central Coast. This is a key hands‑on and supervisory role within our Bookkeeping and BAS division, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients with accurate, timely and practical bookkeeping services. The role is suited to an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys managing day‑to‑day client accounts, reviewing work, improving processes and helping clients maintain reliable financial records. You will work closely with clients, junior team members and the wider accounting team to deliver high‑quality bookkeeping support across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, month‑end processing and management reporting, with BAS and IAS support forming part of the broader bookkeeping service.

Key responsibilities

Manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, including transaction processing, coding, allocations and general ledger maintenance

Prepare and review bank, credit card, loan, clearing account and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly

Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including supplier bills, customer invoices, payment runs, receipt allocation and debtor follow‑up support

Process and review payroll, including employee records, leave, superannuation and Single Touch Payroll requirements where applicable

Prepare month‑end and periodic reports, including profit and loss reports, balance sheet summaries, cash flow information and other management reporting required by clients

Communicate proactively with clients to obtain information,



answer bookkeeping queries and help them understand the status of their financial records

Maintain accurate, complete and well‑organised client files, source documents and working papers in line with firm procedures

Assist with BAS and IAS preparation and lodgement as part of the overall bookkeeping function, ensuring GST, PAYG withholding and other relevant information is accurate

Support the setup, maintenance and improvement of client accounting systems, including Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and related add‑on applications

Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes, templates, checklists and workflows to enhance efficiency and client service

Work collaboratively with the wider accounting team on year‑end preparation, client queries, special projects and other practice support as required

What we’re looking for

Proven experience of 5+ years in bookkeeping or accounting practice.

Solid knowledge of ATO requirements and current tax legislation applicable to BAS and IAS

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial and tax documentation

Professional accounting qualifications highly regarded, BAS Agent qualification would be perfect.

Knowledge of MYOB, Xero and other similar accounting software is critical.
