Senior Project Engineer (Technical Lead)

About The Position

Provide technical leadership and governance across major infrastructure and defence programs. Ensure engineering outputs are compliant and aligned with machining, fabrication and fitting requirements, while mentoring junior engineers. The role is office‑based with occasional site and workshop engagement across infrastructure and defence projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as Technical Authority and review engineering outputs
- Lead design‑for‑manufacture and constructability reviews
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers
- Manage engineering workload and conduct design reviews
- Support project planning, risk assessment and PMO governance
- Ensure alignment with manufacturing and construction processes
- Interface with contractors, suppliers and stakeholders




- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering standards
- Timely delivery of engineering outputs
- Reduction in rework and defects
- Strong design review governance
- Development of engineering team
- Stakeholder satisfaction
- Approve engineering/Manufacturing designs, methods and documentation
- Provide technical recommendations, including for current opportunities / bid development
- Influence project delivery decisions

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8–12+ years experience
- Technical leadership experience
- Manufacturing experience

Desirable:

- Infrastructure or defence experience
- Knowledge of relevant standards
- Project management certification
- Trade certified in Machining, Fitting or Fabrication
- Expertise in machining, fabrication and fitting
- Strong engineering judgement and design review capability
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement
- Problem‑solving and analytical capability
- ERP / PLM experience and understanding
