About the Role
The Electronic Assembler is responsible for assembling, soldering, inspecting and testing electronic assemblies and finished products. The successful candidate will have strong practical experience in PCB assembly, excellent attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce high-quality workmanship.
You will work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure products are assembled accurately, efficiently and in accordance with customer and quality requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble electronic and mechanical components into subassemblies and finished products.
- Perform through-hole hand soldering and basic surface-mount rework when required.
- Inspect PCB assemblies and identify soldering defects and workmanship issues.
- Perform routine production testing using approved test procedures and conduct in-process visual inspections.
- Use soldering equipment, hand tools, microscopes and other production equipment.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, bills of materials and work instructions.
- Complete PCB and electronic module rework as required.
- Follow production procedures, work instructions and quality management systems.
- Complete production tasks safely, accurately and efficiently.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Recent experience in electronic assembly and through-hole hand soldering.
- Strong practical understanding of PCB assembly processes.
- Ability to identify soldering defects and perform rework.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria and J-STD-001 soldering requirements.
- Strong visual inspection skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to producing quality outcomes.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Highly Regarded
- Current IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification.
- Experience working to IPC Class 2 or Class 3 requirements.
- Defence, aerospace, medical or high-reliability manufacturing experience.
- Surface-mount assembly or rework experience.
