About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter – Leading Hand to join a dynamic workshop team based in Rydalmere.
In this hands‑on leadership role, you will guide and support a small workshop team while actively contributing to installations, servicing, fabrication, and pre‑delivery inspections. Your technical expertise and leadership capability will be key in maintaining high workmanship standards and ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a small workshop team
- Maintain high standards of workmanship through mentoring and leading by example
- Provide regular progress updates to the Workshop Supervisor to meet timelines
- Perform workshop installations and pre‑delivery inspections on new and used equipment
- Fabricate and install subframes from design through to manufacture
- Service and repair new and used vehicle‑mounted cranes and hook loaders
- Complete job documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Work safely at all times and comply with site safety policies and procedures
About You
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand role within a similar industry
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical, Fabrication Trade, or equivalent
- Experience working on heavy vehicles
- Experience with cranes and/or hook loaders highly regarded
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and procedures
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Strong time management and task prioritisation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Current Australian driver’s licence (HR licence preferred)
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical and National Police Check
