Occupational Therapy Team Leader - Community (NDIS)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapy Team Leader to lead and support a growing team of high-quality community-based services to NDIS participants.
This leadership role combines clinical excellence with people management and operational oversight. The Occupational Therapy Team Leader will oversee clinician performance, provide supervision and mentoring, support complex clinical decision-making, and ensure services are delivered in line with NDIS requirements and best practice standards.
Alongside leadership responsibilities, the role maintains a reduced clinical caseload focused on complex participants and high-level assessments.
The successful applicant will be prepared to work out of our Sylvania based offices 1 day per week.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of Occupational Therapists and Allied Health Assistants.
- Provide regular clinical supervision, coaching, and performance development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
- Conduct performance reviews and assist with development planning.
- Support staff wellbeing, engagement, and professional growth.
Clinical Leadership
- Provide advanced clinical guidance on complex participant cases.
- Ensure evidence-based and person-centred practice across the occupational therapy team.
- Review and support high-quality clinical documentation and NDIS reporting.
- Promote consistency in service delivery, documentation standards, and clinical outcomes.
- Support continuous quality improvement and implementation of best practice initiatives.
- Assist with clinical governance, compliance, and risk management activities.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage a reduced caseload of participants with complex support needs.
- Conduct:
- Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)
- Sensory and environmental assessments
- Develop and implement therapy plans aligned with participant goals and NDIS plans.
- Deliver therapy services in homes, and community environments.
- Liaise with support coordinators, families, carers,
and multidisciplinary teams.
Operational Responsibilities
- Support service delivery targets, workflow management, and resource planning.
- Monitor caseload allocation and clinician utilisation.
- Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, AHPRA requirements, and organisational policies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Minimum 4-7 years' experience as an Occupational Therapist, including experience within community and disability settings.
- Demonstrated leadership or senior clinician experience.
- Solid knowledge of the NDIS framework, funding models, and reporting requirements.
- Extensive experience completing:
- Functional Capacity Assessments
- Assistive Technology assessments
- NDIS progress and review reports
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and support a multidisciplinary environment.
- Current Australian driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (where applicable).
- Experience leading community-based allied health teams or experience in supervision and mentoring.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and clinical governance processes.
- Experience working with paediatric, adult, and/or psychosocial disability participants.
- Additional training in sensory integration, seating and positioning, complex assistive technology, or home modifications.
