We are seeking an Assistant Production Manager to join our Minto team in Sydney. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will assist in leading the Minto production team. Your core responsibilities include assisting in the execution of all production processes to ensure productive production of quality malt for timely dispatch to customers through comprehensive production planning, effective people management, process supervision, stock management, continuous improvement, customer focus and the promotion of good staff morale.

Requirements

Assist the Production Manager in planning production schedules including workflow, job assignments, scheduling, shift coverage, quality and utility consumption





Help to maintain clearly defined quality targets and optimise processing parameters in accordance with customer requirements and company policies

Utilise technical skills and experience to identify and solve problems involving operational efficiencies, quality improvement, development of waste management sustainability initiatives and other opportunities for the business

Participate in and uphold all associated safety practices for site including SHE and food safety cultures through demonstrated leadership

Ensure plant HACCP, Quality and Continuous Improvement systems are followed and requirements are met

Support the Production Manager as well as other functions within the business to implement the most effective approach for complying with corporate policies and procedures

Assist in the leadership, development and management of the production team through the development of trust, motivation and creation of a respectful workplace culture

Train production technicians and ensure that training is well documented

Document quality issues and participate in root cause analysis

Identify risks and make recommendations regarding innovation and improvement

Supervise production technicians as required

What we’re looking for

At least three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment - required

Tertiary qualifications in a science or engineering related discipline - desired

An understanding of malt and the malting supply chain - desired

An understanding of malting operations and production techniques - desired

A sound understanding of ISO 22000, HACCP, SHE systems

Great attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to lead and influence others

Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal English skills

High adaptability with ability to drive and implement change, contributing positively to the morale of the team
