Senior Financial Accountant (Risk & Compliance)

We are seeking a sophisticated Senior Financial Accountant to step into a highly critical, high exposure role at our Riverwood Head Office. Reporting directly to the CFO and Directors, this position goes far beyond transactional processing. You will be the vital link between operational finance and executive leadership, turning complex data into accurate, strategic, and commercially focused reporting.

- Drive Transformation: Champion process improvements, workflow automation, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the finance function.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Corporate Reporting & Statutory Compliance
- Manage end to end preparation, audit, and lodgement of General Purpose Financial Statements (GPFS) with ASIC and the ATO.
- Ensure strict compliance with AASB, IFRS, and international tax reporting requirements.
- Provide expert technical accounting advice on complex transactions and reporting matters.
- SGE & International Tax Governance
- Coordinate Country by Country (CbC)
Reporting, Master File, and Local File documentation.
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation for related party and cross-border transactions.
- Review international transactions against OECD guidelines, MAAL, and Diverted Profits Tax (DPT) frameworks.
- Financial Operations & Department Oversight
- Lead month end, quarter end, and year end close processes.
- Review monthly management reporting packs, including P&L;, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and budget variance.
- Provide rigorous oversight across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Property Accounting (including AASB 16 compliance).
YOUR CREDENTIALS
What is Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, corporate accounting, audit, or tax environments.
- Deep expertise in statutory reporting, financial statement preparation, and AASB/IFRS standards.
- Solid communication skills with the confidence to translate complex technical/regulatory matters to non-finance teams.
- Full Australian working rights.
What is Desirable:
- CA, CPA, or CTA qualification.
- Background in a Big 4 firm or a multinational SGE environment.
- Experience with automated systems, ERP platforms, or finance transformation projects.
- Background in retail, wholesale, or multi site environments.
