We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to support the design, build and operation of secure, reliable data pipelines and data products within an emerging Enterprise Data Platform.
This role will suit someone with robust Microsoft Fabric and Azure experience who is comfortable working across ingestion, transformation, governance, quality, deployment and monitoring. You'll work closely with data governance, data stewards, custodians, analysts and product owners to deliver trusted, reusable datasets and semantic models for analytics and reporting.
What you'll be doing:
- Build and operate data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric
- Deliver ingestion and transformation across Bronze, Silver and Gold layers
- Create curated datasets and reusable data products
- Develop semantic and dimensional models for Power BI
- Use Lakehouse, OneLake, SQL Endpoints, Dataflows Gen2 and Notebooks
- Run and schedule Microsoft Purview scans
- Apply classifications, sensitivity labels and lineage
- Implement data quality checks, validation rules and automated testing
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and data dictionaries
- Support privacy-by-design data ingestion and secure data use
- Apply RBAC, managed identities and least-privilege access
- Automate deployment using Git and Azure DevOps
- Configure monitoring, alerting and operational dashboards
- Tune performance, storage and compute schedules
- Contribute to engineering patterns, templates and standards
What you need to bring:
- 5+ years' experience in data engineering or equivalent
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Solid SQL and PySpark skills
- Experience building production-grade data pipelines
- Exposure to Azure data services such as ADF,
Synapse or Databricks
- Practical experience with Microsoft Purview
- Strong understanding of medallion architecture
- Experience serving data to Power BI
- Good knowledge of data quality, testing and validation
- Understanding of security and privacy fundamentals
- Experience working with governance teams and data stakeholders
- Clear documentation and stakeholder communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Confidence working in a fast-moving programme environment
Bonus points for
- Experience with dbt and Proficy
- Infrastructure-as-Code exposure, such as Bicep or Terraform
- Azure DevOps pipelines, environments and approvals
- Experience designing reusable engineering patterns
- Strong Power BI semantic modelling experience
- Experience with enterprise data platforms
- Exposure to cost optimisation across storage and compute
- Experience supporting auditability, lineage and compliance

- Start date: Mid to Late August
- Rate:$1072 per day incl super
