About the role
ARA Building Services, part of ARA Group is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team on a full-time basis. Based in Kingsgrove NSW. This role will suit someone who is confident managing high-volume supplier invoices, understands purchase-to-pay processes in a project-based environment and is comfortable working with subcontractor claims, supplier reconciliations and payment processing.
Key responsibilities
Process supplier invoices, subcontractor claims, credit notes, and employee expense reimbursements accurately and on time.
Match invoices to purchase orders, delivery dockets, contracts, and approval documentation in line with company procedures.
Prepare and process payment runs, ensuring payments are properly authorised and supported.
Reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies, and follow up outstanding invoices or credit notes.
Maintain accurate supplier records, including bank account details, payment terms, tax information, and supporting documentation.
Liaise with project managers, contract administrators, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve invoice and payment queries.
Assist with month-end accounts payable reporting, accruals, creditor reconciliations, and general finance administration.
Maintain data accuracy in Acumatica and support continuous improvement of accounts payable processes.
What we're looking for
Minimum 2 years of accounts payable experience,
ideally within the construction, contracting, building services, or project-based industry.
Demonstrated understanding of supplier invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor claims, payment runs, and creditor reconciliations.
Basic accounting knowledge, including general ledger coding, chart of accounts, GST treatment, and reconciliations.
Experience using Acumatica is highly regarded and preferred for this role.
Familiarity with Prime or similar construction/project management systems would be a bonus.
Robust attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines, high transaction volumes, and competing priorities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Intermediate Excel skills and general confidence working with financial systems and reporting tools.
