We are seeking an irrigation expert with experience across permanent cropping systems such as tree nuts, vineyards, citrus, or similar horticultural operations, who can bring transferable irrigation knowledge and a passion for continuous improvement.

The Irrigation Manager leads and coordinates all irrigation operations across large-scale nut orchards, ensuring efficient water use, reliable system performance, and alignment with crop requirements through monitoring, scheduling, and troubleshooting. The role also contributes to capital projects, maintains compliance and records, collaborates closely with orchard teams, and drives continuous improvement in irrigation systems and practices.

As our business is widespread and continues to grow, we currently have opportunities in our southern locations, based in regional New South Wales - in Pallamallawa (near Moree)and in theRiverina.

Duties include but are not limited to

- Support and setting up programs in the MAIT irrigation management system for irrigation scheduling.
- Irrigation repairs - identification of the best solution and assistance with sourcing of contractors and service providers.
- Compilation of irrigation system maintenance programs and monitoring of timely and successful execution thereof including water fulfilment.
- Pump and filter troubleshooting.
- Undertakes daily monitoring of crops for plant development and growth.
- Monitors all fertigation and irrigation records to ensure programs are being followed correctly.
- Liaises with Orchard Manager’s concerning when irrigation is required.



Co-ordinates necessary irrigation maintenance and capital work as well as overseeing training and relevant document completion.
- Chemical dosing and fertigation - monitoring calibration of pumps and accuracy of application rates.
- Fulfill reporting responsibilities as required.
- Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the business to ensure effective operation of growing operations.

Qualifications

- Degree or certificate in Agronomy or 5+ years irrigation experience.
- ChemCert
- Knowledge of horticultural tree crops.
- Ability to supervise and train employees - organising, prioritising and scheduling work assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively & exhibit efficiency and commitment to work to strict deadlines
- Knowledge of field machinery, intensive horticultural operations, crop maintenance and crop hygiene
- Ability to meet KPI’s and complete cost reporting
- Strong knowledge of WHS
- Ability to induct and train staff
- Understanding of Integrated Pest Management
- Valid driver’s licence
