R AND S BROTHERS CO-OPERATIONS PTY LTD, trading as Tassie Dhaba Restaurant & Bar, is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join its qualified kitchen team in Beaconsfield, Tasmania. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to prepare authentic Indian cuisine while contributing to menu development, maintaining exceptional food quality, and supporting the day‑to‑day operation of a busy commercial kitchen. The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering outstanding dining experiences while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen efficiency.

Task & responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, season and cook a variety of authentic Indian dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
- Plan menus and develop new recipes, including seasonal and promotional menu offerings.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation, cooking and presentation.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance and training to kitchen staff.
- Supervise and coordinate food preparation activities to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service.
- Monitor stock levels, order food supplies and ensure proper storage and stock rotation.
- Inspect food ingredients and finished dishes to ensure quality, freshness and compliance with food safety standards.
- Manage food costs through effective portion control, stock management and waste minimisation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, hygiene regulations and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, including tandoors, grills, ovens and other specialised cooking equipment.
- Liaise with front-of-house staff regarding special dietary requirements and customer requests.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualification & experience
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher qualification.
- At least one year of relevant post-qualification experience as a Chef.
- Demonstrated experience preparing authentic Indian cuisine in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP principles and commercial kitchen operations.
- Experience in menu planning, stock control and kitchen supervision.
- Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
