Who We Are:
Yarrabah State School caters for an indigenous student population enrolled from Pre-prep to year 10 across three separate campuses within the community of Yarrabah in Far North Queensland.
A Special Education Unit supporting students across all campuses is located at the Primary campus with a specialist facility provided at the Secondary campus.
Yarrabah State School has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Education and is committed to providing high quality education for all students with a focus on achievement and continuous improvement.
The Executive Assistant at Yarrabah State School provides high-level confidential administrative, executive and secretarial support to the Principal and school leadership team.
The role supports the effective day-to-day operation of the school by managing diaries, correspondence, meetings, events, records, financial administration and information systems, while coordinating office processes and liaising with staff, students, families, community members and external stakeholders.
Working within the unique context of a remote Aboriginal community school, the role requires strong organisational and communication skills, cultural awareness, confidentiality,
sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities while providing professional and responsive support to the school community.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide confidential administrative and secretarial support to the Principal/Executive Principal, including word processing, data base and spread sheet applications and produce advanced desktop published documents.
- Oversee the delivery of documentation presented to the Principal/Executive Principal, schedule appointments, coordinate and organise meetings, conferences, career development for staff, room bookings and functions, maintain diaries, take minutes of meetings and distribute to attendees and manage the provision of administrative and secretarial support to conferences as required.
- Maintain effective time management practices for the Principal/Executive Principal including coordinating diary appointments, prioritising correspondence, preventing unnecessary interruptions and other calendar events.
- Monitor and screen incoming telephone calls and correspondence to the office and where necessary direct these to the appropriate areas.
