ABOUT WOMEN’S COMMUNITY SHELTERS (WCS)

WCS have a part-time position available for a Data and Insights Analyst based in our Surry Hills Hub.

Women’s Community Shelters works with communities, government and philanthropy to establish and operate shelters and innovative housing solutions for women and children experiencing homelessness, including domestic and family violence. As a Tier 3 Community Housing provider, WCS is committed to strengthening community responses and improving individual outcomes through safe accommodation, support and practical service innovation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director Business Operations and Performance, the Data and Insights Analyst will maintain, enhance and evolve WCS’ data, reporting and business intelligence capability. This role transforms complex data into practical insights that support organisational performance, service improvement, funding, advocacy and strategic planning.

The role has two core focus areas: data analytics, reporting and insights, and business improvement and innovation. You will work closely with operational leaders, the Practice team and the broader shelter network to improve access to timely, accurate and meaningful information.

Location: Surry Hills, Sydney (close to Central Station)

Work type: Part-time role: (6 month fixed term contract option to extend)

What you’ll do:

Maintain,



optimise and enhance WCS’ Power BI reports, dashboards and reporting systems.

Produce regular performance reports for WCS and the Shelter Network.

Analyse organisational, sector and government data to identify trends, risks, opportunities and insights.

Translate complex data into clear, accessible information for technical and non-technical audiences.

Support data quality, governance, documentation and standardised reporting practices.

Provide training, guidance and support to staff using CIMS and reporting tools.

Contribute to business improvement projects, automations and innovation initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

You are an analytical, curious and collaborative data professional who can turn complex information into practical recommendations. You are confident working with reporting tools and data systems, and you communicate clearly with people across different roles and levels of technical confidence.

Essential skills and Experience:

At least two years’ relevant experience in a data analyst or similar role.

Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards and semantic models.

Advanced skills in DAX, Power Query and data modelling principles.





Experience working with Power BI projects managed in Git using the Power BI Project structure.

Experience with SQL, Python, PowerShell, R or similar scripting, coding or transformation tools, or the ability to rapidly acquire these skills.

Experience with Microsoft Azure or cloud-based data platforms.

Strong understanding of database concepts, data governance, data quality and data management practices.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Desirable skills and Experience:

Experience building automated workflows using Power Automate or similar platforms.

Experience in business improvement, organisational transformation, consulting or change management.

Experience in the not-for-profit, community services, housing, homelessness, health or government sectors.

Experience developing KPI frameworks, outcomes measurement systems or impact reporting.

Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric or enterprise data platforms.
