CANEGROWERS Burdekin is seeking an experienced and community minded leader to take on the role of District Manager and help shape the future of one of Australia's most important agricultural regions.
As the peak representative body for Burdekin sugarcane growers, CANEGROWERS Burdekin plays a vital role in advocacy, industry leadership and member support. CANEGROWERS Burdekin is an autonomous but integral part of the network of CANEGROWERS companies in Queensland. As the industry's peak grower representative body, CANEGROWERS has been advancing and protecting the interests of cane farming families in Queensland for more than 100 years.
Reporting to the Board, the District Manager provides leadership across all aspects of the organisation, including strategy implementation, member services, advocacy, governance and business operations. The role offers a unique opportunity to build strong leadership relationships, influence key issues affecting growers and lead a dedicated team committed to delivering value for members.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Collaboration with the Board to develop and implement organisational strategy, priorities and operational plans.
Supporting the Board to progress growers' best interests by advocating for growers and guiding members on industry issues.
Leading and supporting staff, with responsibility for financial management, human resources and the delivery of key projects.
Monitoring and directing business performance through forecasts, budgets, targets and regular reporting to the Board.
Acting as Company Secretary, supporting effective governance and ensuring the organisation meets its statutory and regulatory obligations.
Growing and strengthening the CANEGROWERS membership base through proactive engagement and business development strategies.
Coordinating media, stakeholder engagement and digital communications to members, industry partners and the broader community.
We are looking for someone with:
Experience as a Senior Manager reporting to a Board.
A strong understanding of the application of corporate governance principles.
Understanding of policy development, government relations and advocacy.
Demonstrated ability to lead people, manage operations and deliver outcomes in a small team environment.
Experience in negotiation, collaboration and the management of stakeholder relationships.
Clear communication skills including confident use of digital tools and communication channels to improve member engagement, access to information and service delivery.
Relevant tertiary qualifications, with experience in agriculture, regional industries or member-based organisation's highly regarded.
