About the opportunity
Blue Water Shipping is seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join our team on a 6-12 month contract, supporting a major client program and owner supplied equipment banking operation.
Based in North Sydney, the Inventory Controller will act as the Inventory SME, responsible for establishing and maintaining inventory control processes, supporting Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementation, ensuring data integrity, and driving governance across multiple warehouse and buffer zone locations.
Working closely with the client, warehouse providers, project teams, and logistics partners, you will play a critical role in ensuring inventory accuracy, operational compliance, and project readiness.
The principal objectives of this position are:
- Develop and maintain the inventory control processes for all owner supplied equipment banking inventory
- Establish standard procedures for receival, storage, stock movements, project allocation and dispatch
- Ensure consistent inventory controls are applied across all warehouse and buffer zone locations
- Maintain explicit responsibility and approval requirements for stock adjustments, transfers and releases
- Review operational compliance and address process gaps with the relevant warehouse or logistics provider
- Support with the design and implementation of the WMS inventory structure
- Assist with SKU creation, equipment master data, project allocation, locations and reporting fields
- Define WMS workflows for receival, storage, internal movements, dispatch and stock adjustments
- Reconcile warehouse reports, WMS data, supplier documentation and Client project records
- Ensure inventory is correctly allocated by project, package, supplier, SKU,
serial number and equipment type
- Review discrepancies, shortages, overages, damage records and incorrect allocations
- Coordinate investigation and closure of inventory discrepancies with the warehouse and project teams
- Act as the key inventory SME for the identification, status and control of owner supplied equipment
- Attend warehouse or buffer zone locations where physical verification or specialist support is required
- Assist onsite teams where equipment identification, handling requirements or project allocation is unclear
- Validate that physical operations align with the approved inventory processes and WMS controls
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Proven experience in Inventory Control, Warehousing, Logistics or Supply Chain Management
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- WMS experience
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Must be able to gain and maintain a Criminal History clearance
- Must have the right to live and work in Australia
